Low-cost airline giant Allegiant Air announced Tuesday it will begin commercial air service in May 2025 from a developing airport in Gulf Shores. The announcement from the airline comes ahead of an official announcement inside a hangar at the Gulf Shores International Airport.

Allegiant will be flying directly to Gulf Shores, Ala., beginning in the spring, according to airport officials.
